Move over little black dress, the little white dress is making headway!
White is very much trending at the moment (honestly though, when is it not?) and just like black, it’s a timeless colour.
What I love about dressing in white
- Clean, simple, chic and sophisticated all-in-one
- Can dress up to look expensive and elegant
- Or dress down to look casual and effortless
- Easy to find when shopping
- Goes with absolutely everything
- Can instantly brighten up any outfit
What I hate about dressing in white
- Gets dirty easily
- Often see-through
- Some shades can make you look sick or a bit off
When you find the right shade of white for your skin tone, you’re good to go!
As a general rule, I stay away from super bright blueish shades of white, as it tends to look cheap and washes out my skin tone.
I also find that “off-white” is very hit-and-miss for my complexion, so do pay special attention to the shade and how it looks on your skin when trying on white.
Sizing and details
I got the shoulders taken in to bring up the neckline a little as I didn’t want the V cut too low.
It’s cut to a conservative mini hem length and has a flirty V shape neckline. It’s loose and A-shaped through the body which gives it a nice flowy silhouette as you move.
I love that it’s lined and made of fairly thick and sleek material. Winnie’s fur does not stick at all!
If you’re not already rocking the little white dress yet, it’s time to try wearing this classic and timeless piece.
Below, I share some ideas with 9 different outfits on how you can style your mini white dress.
neck scarf and little handbag
Style with a silk neck scarf and a cute little handbag. These simple touches will completely elevate your outfit to make you look more put together and expensive.
Sun hat and sunglasses
Perfect on a sunny day, you can pair your white dress with a wide brim raffia sun hat and sunglasses.
There’s something very elegant and chic about wearing hats and the sunglasses will just tie it all together to create this mysterious yet sophisticated look.
Wide waist belt
I decided to be adventurous and tried pairing a corset belt over the little white dress. It cinches in your waist giving a lovely feminine silhouette and hourglass shape.
Corset belts are no longer trending but you can always substitute with a wide waist belt, which is very much trending at the moment, and it will give you the same shaping effect.
The black leather jacket is a classic piece that is definitely worth investing in. Layer over your white dress for a night out.
You can even wear it like a cape and just throw it over your shoulders, a very trendy look for jackets at the moment.
Bonus tip: Pair with your favourite red lippie. Can’t get a look more classic than this.
Just like the little white dress, you can pretty much wear anything with an oversized denim jacket.
Pair the two together and you have yourself a classic go-to casual outfit.
- Rest your eyes
- Take a deep breath…inhale peace & exhale happiness
- Make a small wish for someone you love
- Get up & stretch your legs
- Hydrate & energise
- Set an intention to live your best life

I found this retro little pink puff sleeve cardigan from my mum’s wardrobe and couldn’t keep my hands off it.
White can be a great contrast for many colours and different styles but I like to pair white with lighter colours like beige and pinks for a more feminine look.
Layer a shirt underneath
I don’t normally wear clothing that’s “loud” and maybe I’m being outrageous for considering this black floral shirt to be loud, but I decided to be playful and try it out.
This look is a little bold for me but I like how it turned out, and it just goes to show that you can be adventurous when trying different layers with this dress.
Layer a sweater over the top
On cooler days when I still want to wear a dress, I like to layer a sweater on top and tie a knot in front for a cute crop and cinched in waist detail.
This oversized off-shoulder sweater works extremely well here with a flirty show of shoulder. This kind of layering also goes especially well with high necklines.
Of course, pearls are also white and will pair the white dress seamlessly for an elegant and feminine look.
- The little white dress is a timeless and classic piece you will find yourself wearing a lot if you choose to add it to your wardrobe.
- You can dress it up with different accessories such as neck scarves, little handbags, sun hats, sunglasses and wide waist belts.
- You can wear pretty much any jacket with it, and as a classic piece looks especially good with other classic jackets such as the leather jacket or oversized denim jacket.
- As a plain and simple dress, you can try layering in all sorts of ways to create new and interesting outfits.
I hope you’ve been inspired to try playing around with layers, jackets and accessories to dress up your little white dress. I’d love to know how you like to style your little white dress in the comments below.
