My boyfriend LOLs hard at how baggy these dark khaki harem pants are, but we don’t dress up for boys anyway…am I right or amiriiite?
I love these silly pants, because they:
- Are very high-waisted
- Have pockets
- Are cuffed at the ankle and much more practical than long wide-leg pants
- But still very wide through the leg and comfortable to wear
- Are made of a flowy and silky material that’s dreamy to the touch
I featured them recently in the little red bag post, and this high neck leopard top is my favourite top to wear with these khaki harem pants.
Sizing and details
I love getting pants from Sheike because their size 6 pants consistently fit me like a glove. I’m so confident about this that I will shop their size 6 pants online without even trying them on instore.
My suggestion is to try on pants at all your local stores until you find one that fits you like a glove. As a general rule, this will be your go-to store for new pants as they tend to have the same style of cut.
Sadly, many shops I like such as Forever New, Kookai and Peter Alexander have bottoms that just don’t fit me well. At least I know this and can save time not trying on their pants.
From my experience, this rule only applies to pants, and you might find that shorts or skirts from the same store fit differently.
Like I’ve said before, wide-leg style trousers go well with sleeveless tops, including these harem pants.
They’re more dressy in nature and the dark colour makes it an effortless piece for putting together dressy evening outfits, but they can also be balanced out with a more casual top to dress it down.
Dressy style top
I typically like to wear dark khaki with other dark neutral colours such as black, navy and charcoal grey.
This black and white polka dot crop top can really be dressed up or down. When paired with these silky harem pants, it looks dressy.
Casual style top
Although this crop top below is made from a casual style stretchy cotton material, it’s a basic high neck black singlet that can easily be dressed up with accessories and shoes.
Same goes for this basic navy tank top. I dressed this one up with a cute leopard neck scarf and pointed nude sandals.

Oversized boyfriend blazer
Dressy pants look great with blazers.
As a general rule, I pair structured trousers with structured blazers and flowy, relaxed fit, wide-leg trousers like these with relaxed fit outerwear like this oversized boyfriend blazer.
Worn as an outer layer
You may have already seen this outfit before in the pink silk tank top post. I’ve featured it again here as it’s one of my favourites.
Worn as a top
Same blazer worn differently. I tied the front together at the waist to convert it into a top to transform the look.
Button down blouse
The button down shirt is a classic, dressy, long-sleeve top that everyone owns. When unsure of what to wear with dressy pants, this style of top is a pretty safe bet.
I’ve paired all 3 tops below with denim shorts in the previous post and all these outfits actually look very different.
The great thing about a minimalist wardrobe is that you can re-wear clothing in different styles to create very different looks.
Silky bottoms pair well with silky tops and I went with a bright pink for some fun contrast in this next outfit below. As you might already know, I love bright pink.
As these harem pants are a very muted colour, you can safely pair with a louder top like this black floral shirt.
These white pearl buttons on the V-neck bodysuit below are not real buttons that can be undone, but still cute anyway and adds to the dressy vibe of the piece.
I like wearing monochrome and although the khaki green bodysuit is much more saturated than the dark khaki harem pants, it still pairs nicely and looks quite elegant.
I’d love to know what you think of these outfit ideas and if like this style of harem trousers.
They’re definitely a little more out there compared to my other basic bottoms but I find them super fun to wear for evening outfits.
