Happy International Women’s Day! To celebrate, I’ve chosen a very feminine pink silk camisole to style.

Let’s stop teaching our daughters that the heroes slay dragons, burn witches and slaughter wolves.

Let’s start teaching our daughters that the heroes raise them, save them, run with them, become them.

And so can she.

I never intended this post to be an outfit layering inspiration post, but I had so much fun with this silk camisole that I almost ended up layering all 9 outfits.

Sizing and Details

This pink cowl neck silk camisole is a beloved accent piece in my minimalist wardrobe and has already been featured in previous posts here, here and here.

It’s from Kookai and I got it in size 36 (see FAQ for my measurements for reference).

I love it because:

  • It’s a super girly and fun piece.
  • The cowl neckline is flattering on everyone.
  • It looks cute with almost everything.
  • It can be dressed up or down.
  • Its brightness adds energy and zing to an outfit.
  • It can be layered in many different ways.

I don’t normally wear loud outfits or recommend buying loud clothing, but of course, every rule is meant to be broken and everyone does indeed own favourite loud pieces that they love to wear no matter what.

So I thought it would be fun to put together some outfits that are slightly on the louder side with my favourite bright pink silk cami.

Simple bottoms

As the top is already quite loud, I recommend choosing simple bottoms to pair with. Light colours and neutral shades are all good options.

Tailored trousers

A silk cami is already quite flirty so it balances out quite nicely with a pair of neutral, relaxed-fit trousers.

As you might already know, I love mixing dressy with casual, and you can see it here with the dressy top, semi-dressy bottoms and casual footwear.

Cropped culottes

This girly pink top will also pair well with anything else that’s feminine and girly, like these white cropped semi-sheer flowy culottes.

Pencil skirt

For more of a contrast and intense look, dark colours like navy and black go well with pink to add that extra edge to the outfit.

Layering

The great thing about silk camisoles and dresses is that you can layer them over most basic tops to create unique outfits that still look gorgeous.

So even though this bright pink silk cami is a rather loud piece on it’s own, it’s still very versatile and can be worn in many different ways.

Layered over a round-neck blouse

If in doubt, start with white. When it comes to layering, a white round-neck top will always work.

Layered over a T-shirt

The key here again is to go with a round neckline.

The soft muted greys and beige in this outfit make a nice canvas for the bright pink top to pop.

Layered over a turtleneck

I love layering dressy tops with this turtleneck.

The wide neck funnel is very comfortable to wear and has a cosy casual vibe that gives a nice contrast to this dressy silk top.

Layered over an off-the-shoulder sweater

I really wasn’t expecting this combination to work, but the result surprised me.

The colours and shapes give me retro super-girl vibes and it’s so quirky that I think it’s kind of awesome.

So there you go, don’t be afraid to try different layering combinations and have fun with it! You might create something weird and wonderful.

Layered under a trench coat

Don’t forget your outer layer coat, jacket or cardigan.

I went with a classic short cream trench coat that my auntie gifted me from Taiwan, which is at least 6 years old and still like new. It’s definitely worth investing in a good quality trench coat.

And if that’s not enough warmth for you, why not try combining an under layer and outer layer? The possibilities are endless.

I hope you’ve been inspired to try layering your silk camisole. I’d love to know your favourite outfit in the comments below.
